The Context Graph Service runs through all five, and through Foundry, so a decision is kept with the reasoning behind it rather than in someone’s head.

• Connect — ERP, CRM, ITSM, databases, APIs, documents, IoT and streaming systems, into one real-time data plane.
• Model — the business objects you actually deal in, with their relationships, their behaviours and their lifecycles.
• Reason — agents and models working on that model rather than on raw tables, so the question asked is a business question.
• Operate — applications that speak in your own objects rather than in database tables, built on the model so they follow it when it changes.
• Automate — multi-system workflows that run deterministically, with the escalation to a person written in.

What happens to an override

This is what makes it worth the effort. A dispatcher reroutes a shipment because of weather; the decision, the conditions and the outcome are captured, and when the conditions recur the reroute is proposed rather than rediscovered. Recurring overrides become candidate rules, put to a person for approval rather than applied on their own — so the boundary of what runs unattended widens by decision, not by drift.

You do not start from a blank model

What it needs from you first

A unified pipeline layer is what it connects; a semantic model is what it reasons over. Where that groundwork does not exist yet, data modernization is where it comes from, and it is worth doing on its own merits whether or not this follows. Nothing here requires you to commit to the platform to start.
